Brightlane Partners to Speak at De Novo Bank Conference in Atlanta
On September 14, 2016 in Atlanta, Georgia, Brightlane Partners will speak at the De Novo Conference at Cherokee Town and Country Club. The conference is for anyone seeking to invest in, organize, lead or work for a new community bank and will cover topics such as regulatory challenges, legal issues, accounting & taxes, and application needs. The Georgia Bankers Association, in partnership with Troutman Sanders, LLP, Atlanta and Porter Keadle Moore, LLP are organizers of the event.
After a cooling off period following the recession, the activity for de novo banks is poised to heat up in 2016. Interest increased in recent months as a result of the FDIC announcing an effort to encourage de novo applications by reducing the period of heightened supervisory monitoring for newly chartered community banks from seven years to three years.
In 1986, co-founder of Brightlane Partners LLC, Steve Johnson, launched his first consulting practice to advise others on how to start a community bank in the United States. T. Stephen Johnson & Associates, Inc. was one of the premier de novo bank firms in the country for most of the 1990’s and 2000’s, starting over 150 new financial institutions in that time period. Now Steve is working alongside his son, Chris Johnson, as Brightlane Partners LLC to lead the charge in the de novo banking world.
At the conference Steve will provide a historical view of the de novo banking environment in the United States and Chris will speak to what the future holds for new bank opportunities in 2016 and beyond. A full agenda for the conference can be found on the Georgia Bankers Association website.
